Plumbing in Marysville

Marysville climbs from a downtown about 5 feet above sea level on Ebey Slough, in the Snohomish River delta, to about 160 feet near Smokey Point and more than 465 feet in the eastern highlands. Quilceda and Allen creeks and some 70 smaller streams drain toward Ebey Slough and the Snohomish River. During the December 2025 storms, flood risk closed Ebey Waterfront Park and part of 152nd Street NE.

The city runs its own water, sewer and surface water utilities. South-end customers get Everett's Spada Lake water through the Everett-Marysville pipeline, while north-end customers get water from Edward Springs, the city's original source, and the Stillaguamish Ranney collectors. The 2025 report also lists the Lake Goodwin Well and the Sunnyside treatment facility, and a 2024 inventory found no lead service lines.

Local know-how

What's hard on plumbing in Marysville.

White flecks in your water

Marysville's utility FAQ says white bits floating in your water may mean a defective hot water tank dip tube. That's a water heater problem, not a city water problem. We confirm the cause and repair or replace the heater.

Low ground near Ebey Slough

Downtown sits about 5 feet above sea level, and flood risk closed Ebey Waterfront Park in December 2025. FEMA says a backwater valve, which lets wastewater out but blocks backflow, can be very effective against sewer backups. We install them.

Older drains, 1980s supply lines

About a third of Marysville homes predate 1980, and homes built before the mid-1970s often have cast-iron drains. Another 31% date from 1980 to 1999, overlapping the years polybutylene supply pipe was installed (roughly 1978 to 1995). We inspect and repipe.

Good questions

Marysville plumbing FAQ.

Don't see your question? Call or text (425) 845-3535. A real person answers, 24/7.

Where does Marysville's water come from?

It depends on where you live. The city's utility FAQ says south-end customers get Everett's Spada Lake water through the Everett-Marysville pipeline, and north-end customers get water from Edward Springs, the city's original source, and the Stillaguamish Ranney collectors. The city doesn't publish a hardness figure, but Everett's supply averaged a very soft 12.5 ppm in 2025.

Are there lead pipes in Marysville's water system?

Not on the city's side. Marysville completed its EPA-required service line inventory in 2024 and found no lead service lines. The city notes that pipe, fittings, solder and faucets inside some homes can still add lead, so use only cold water for drinking and cooking, and flush taps that have sat unused. We replace old faucets, supply lines and piping.
